TIME TO DUST OFF YOUR WEBSITE
It seems like an absolute given that we get interest and mortgage relief by September 18. As of you offer financing, your businesses are sensitive to these rates, so you will benefit shortly, if not immediately. This means your “storefront” that is your website, needs to be in top form, as it’s the engine of all of your marketing.
Our priority recommendations:
- QUALITY OF CONTENT: Before October 2023 Google indexed everything and prioritized the highest-quality content on a site. Now a website and its content need to prove themselves before Google even tries to index it. If the website has too much low-quality content, Google might index only some pages, or none at all in extreme cases. (Kevin Indig, SEOzempic, SEMrush Acadamy, Aug 24, 2024)
- NEW PAGES ON WEBSITE: Instead of indexing and trying to rank new pages, Google observes the overall quality of your website and handles new pages with corresponding skepticism. If a site repeatedly produces low-quality content it doesn’t get a chance to pollute Google’s index further. Only indexed pages count for Quality. (Indig, see above)
- DEFINING QUALITY:
-
- User Experience: Are they finding what they are looking for.
- Content Quality: Information gain, content design, comprehensiveness
- Technical Condition: Load speed, linking, no 404 errors, etc.
That’s enough for today. I don’t want to overwhelm you or your web people, but it’s very important to know how sophisticated Google’s computer engineers have become in writing these mathematical equations to measure millions of websites everyday. Special thanks to Kevin Indig who did all the research behind the recommendations above. These recommendations are based on fact, not opinion.
